Filament Winding

Filament winding is our core business making up the majority of what we do. Other processing methods include tape layup and wet winding with fabric broad goods. We have 6 winding machines and the capable of winding up to 4’ outer diameter and 20’ in overall length.

Out of Autoclave Processing

Our out of autoclave curing uses ovens, a process that marries well with filament winding. Fabrication and processing determine compaction during cure. We have 5 walk in ovens up to 22’ long and 450F cure temperature. Removing the autoclave saves money in processing composites.

De-molding – “Extraction”

Extraction from the winding mandrel is performed by our custom made hydraulic extraction unit capable of 60,000 lb pull force.


Machining of our composite parts is performed at our in house machine shop. We have two lathes, a traditional end mill, multiple cut and drill stations as well as a centerless grinder. CCDI is conveniently located close to numerous fabrication and processing shops in the event outside processing is required.

Secondary Operations

Bonding / assembly is performed in our temperature controlled assembly room. We can provide custom interface fittings that will be bonded to the composite to make a traditionally integrated (bolted) assembly, making CCDI a one-stop-shop for complete assemblies.

Paint and Coatings

Painting takes place in our dedicated paint booth. Here we apply finish coatings to help product identification (branding) or help extend service life in harsh environments.


CCDI is dedicated to quality control.  We pride ourselves in achieving 100% supplier ratings!  Our “bulletproof parts” mentality leads to quality first (link to quality). We have 30,000 lb push and 60,000 lb pull capability for up to full scale testing and product verification. Our CMM has a 28”x 40”x 18” footprint for dimensional inspection. DSC, fiber content and density are routinely used for process verification.


Material characterization consists of neat resin, Tow and flat panel sample fabrication and testing. We can test axial and transverse, torsional shear, poisons and more.


Mechanical Testing of neat resin and fiber samples ranges from 4 point bend to full scale torsional modulus verification. Natural frequency measurements and modulus verification can be simply performed using our national instruments measurement system.
