Custom Tailored Composite Material Solutions
Multiple fiber reinforcement, resins and modifier options are available.
General Fiber Behavior
Tensile and compressive load is carried in the fiber direction; therefore orientation tailors the loading capability. The orientation aspect of fibrous composites provides unique ability to save material weight where little or no load carrying capability is required.
Fiber Options
Standard and high modulus Carbon, E-glass, S-glass, and Polyester are common fibers used in the majority of design solutions. Kevlar, basalt, ceramics and others are available for special projects.
Resin Performance
Each resin provides unique advantages to composite performance. Resins dominate environmental composite performance. Depending on temperature, UV and chemical environmental conditions each resin performs differently, we’ll help you select the best one for your need.
Diverse Resin Selection
CCDI’s resin selection includes epoxy, polyester, vinyl ester, cyanate ester, phenolic and others.
Resin Characteristics
Resins provide lightweight densities lower than .044 lb/cuin (1.2 g/cc), excellent toughness, corrosion performance, low smoke and tailored conductivity performance.
Modifiers
Resin modifiers are chemical additions to the resin mix which can speed cure times, increase toughness, change conductivity and temperature performance or improve processing variables. We work with a number of suppliers who provide resin modifiers to help meet processing and specification requirements.
Fillers
Inert Fillers improve strength and processing properties. Fillers such as glass microspheres, nanoclay, and milled fiber improve toughness, strength, and temperature performance and may reduce weight.
